Wondering what to do for the perfect marriage proposal?
Tip #1 for planning your surprise wedding proposal is to hire a photographer - even if it's not us. You will want to document this memory so you can share for generations to come. We love to capture that special moment when you pop the question to your soulmate. At Melonie Marie Photography, not only are you getting a professional photographer, but you are also getting a Proposal Coordinator to help you plan that perfect 30A beach wedding proposal.
As a photographer for over 20 years, I have captured engagement and wedding proposals, from romantic to fun to jaw dropping and everything in between. When you are ready to move from girlfriend to wife, it's time to make it stick. However, I understand that figuring out how to propose is a major task. (hello, choosing where and memorizing that speech are a major undertakings alone).
Today on the blog we are exited to feature images from JR & Cassie's surprise proposal on the beach in Watercolor Florida as we talk about some tips on what to do before you pop the question. While I mentioned it earlier... that speech is a big one. Sometimes it's a great idea to write that out before hand and let us attach it to one of our Beach Proposal Champagne Toast set ups >> click here to view this idea.
I spoke with JR a few days before the session and he was well prepared, he had his speech down pat and he was super excited for the day! His family was vacationing in Watercolor so we decided for a sunset beach session on a beautiful October day (October 12th, if JR ever forgets what day it was) LOL.
What to do before you propose?
make sure you two are both on the same page
chat with parent's on both sides, especially her side
plan a celebration
Make sure you are on the same page. Believe it or not, it is important to make sure you bath have marriage plans. Talk to your significant other about the future. Talk about retirement plans, talk about where to plan to live in 50 years, talk about any religious view for parenting you may have (or not have), talk about how you plan to keep honesty in your marriage. Just make sure you talk and that your goals and values align.
Chat with parents on both sides. How will parents be involved in your marriage, what role will they play as both role models and supporters of your commitment to your spouse? And before you call me old school... I'm going to suggest you also ask for their hand in marriage, especially if your partner has hinted in any way that this is important to their family. Some families have life-long traditions and love to keep them.
