Wind Blown Hair... Don't Care | Tips for your Beach Session

Updated: Feb 11, 2023

Ladies, we need talk about the wind and your hair! The beach is always windy so expect it!

You will have wind blown hair when photographing on the beaches of Florida's Emerald Coast. Let it carry you away and set you free! We spend so much of our time trying to be perfectly put together, the wind is the perfect element to unravel it all and unlock your inner goddess. #wind

So when the wind blows, don't be nervous. Instead - embrace it! Feel it!

While the wind may nudge you to be your carefree self, I also understand the importance of trying your best to keep it off your face so we can actually see you!

HOW TO PREPARE FOR A WINDY DAY PHOTO SESSION:

TIP #1: Embrace the essence of pulling your hair back. Sloppy Buns, braids, headbands, and my favorite... the "half-up" hair do. I frequently suggest a side pony, as this allows you to pull hair off your face, yet still show length.

TIP #2: Hire a professional stylist! I cannot express this enough! Working with a local hair stylist who is familiar with the windy conditions on the beach will help you in choosing a style that will complement you and yet hold up to the wind.

TIP #3: Hats & scarves are always fun! Similar to how one will play in the ocean water, hats and scarves can help you embrace the wind versus hiding from it. We won't use them for every image, but they are fun to add in for a few shots!

Hair retouching is not included in basic retouching services for your session. Please be sure to plan for the wind when choosing your hair style for your session.

Be prepared to let it blow, or style it to keep it off your face! Either way, just be ready to embrace it!
